Why this matters
GoCarma tracks your commute trips in the background using your phone's GPS and motion sensors. When Power Saving Mode (sometimes called Battery Saver, Power Saver, or Power Saving) is on, Android limits background activity to extend battery life — which can cause GoCarma to miss part of a trip, mis-classify a commute, or fail to detect it entirely.
To make sure your trips are credited correctly, please turn Power Saving off while you're using the program. We recommend also turning off any setting that automatically enables it at low battery.
How to do this depends on your phone's manufacturer.
Samsung Galaxy (One UI 5, 6, or 7)
To turn it off now:
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings (swipe down twice if needed)
Find Power saving and tap it to turn it off
To stop it turning on automatically:
Open Settings → Battery
Tap Power saving
Tap Set schedule and turn off any "Auto turn on" rule based on battery level
Google Pixel (Android 13, 14, 15, 16)
To turn it off now:
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings
Tap Battery Saver to toggle it off
To stop it turning on automatically:
Open Settings → Battery → Battery Saver
Tap Schedule and reminders
Turn off Turn on based on battery level
If you have a Pixel 3 or later, also check that Extreme Battery Saver is off — it's even more restrictive.
Motorola (moto g, edge, razr)
To turn it off now:
Swipe down to open Quick Settings
Tap Battery saver to toggle off
To stop it turning on automatically:
Open Settings → Battery → Battery Saver
Set Schedule to No schedule
If you see Reduce battery drain when inactive, you can leave it on — but make sure GoCarma is added to Essential apps (Settings → Battery → Battery Saver → Essential apps → tap +)
OnePlus (OxygenOS 13, 14, 15)
To turn it off now:
Swipe down to open Quick Settings
Tap Battery Saver to toggle off
To stop it turning on automatically:
Open Settings → Battery → Battery Saver
Turn off Turn on automatically
⚠️ Note for OnePlus users: OxygenOS sometimes reverts these settings on its own. If you notice trip-tracking issues again, please re-check this setting.
Other manufacturers
If you have a TCL, Nokia, ASUS, Sony, or other Android phone, the path is usually the same:
Settings → Battery → Battery Saver / Power Saver → toggle off and disable any automatic scheduling.
