About the Travel Behavior Study
Every day, thousands of people use GoCarma to qualify for 50% toll discounts when traveling with someone else in their vehicle. We have enabled Dallas-Fort Worth commuters to receive more than $3.5 million in toll discounts.
Now, you can also win prizes for using GoCarma as part of a new travel behavior program.
We’ve partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and Texas A&M University Transportation Institute (TTI) to better understand the decisions people make about their travel on Dallas-Fort Worth roads.
We’re also exploring the potential for reducing traffic congestion by offering incentives to people who are willing to try a new way to travel.
Over the next 12 months, you’ll have the chance to earn points for various travel actions, such as taking a less congested route on your commute, or departing at a different time of day.
You’ll also be able to earn points for other tasks, such as completing some surveys.
Each point you earn will automatically be entered into a monthly prize drawing.
By participating, you’re also helping to fight traffic and guide future driver incentive programs.
How to Join the Travel Behavior Study
Starting in September 2024, we will start inviting GoCarma users to participate in the program. Over the next 12 months, we hope to include everyone in the program.
When you receive an invitation, you can opt in by opening the “Rewards” button in the app menu. Simply tap on “I’m In”.
How to Earn Points
After you opt in to participate in the travel behavior study, you will be able to view a list of ways to earn points. For example, there may be tasks to engage in certain travel behaviors, such as:
Off-Peak Travel on I-35W Small changes make a big difference! Earn 75 points each weekday morning you travel on I-35W between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. or 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. To qualify, just drive on I-35W any weekday morning between the above hours. When you reach your destination, you can confirm that you received points by tapping on the "Rewards" button in the app menu and then tapping on the top-left where you see the number of points you have earned in the month to date. Each time you complete this task, you'll receive 75 entries into the prize drawing at the end of the month! |
Monthly Odometer Photo Earn 200 points for submitting a photo of your vehicle’s odometer, once per month. Once per month, you'll receive 200 points when you submit a photo of your vehicle's odometer. Just tap on Monthly Odometer Photo and follow the in-app instructions. After you submit the photo, you'll be able to see the 200 points you earned on your points statement. |
Complete Surveys Earn 400 points for completing surveys about your travel behavior. Earn 400 points straight away just by completing a short survey about your travel behavior. After you complete the survey, you'll see that 400 points have been added to your points balance for the month. That means you'll be entered into the monthly prize drawing an additional 400 times that month! |
